I am running Windows 10 Pro (WIP) on my PC. It has been running for a year without incident, until this latest build.
Update Errors with Version 1607, Build 14367 and 14372
After alert of new updates, attempted to install. First was 14367, 3 days after 14366 was successfully installed (on my hard drive).
1. First Update screen shows ‘issues found' and provides a ‘Fix Issues’ button
2. After clicking on ‘Fix Issues’, install gets to 25%, (Note- one attempt got to 62% before failing)
then the box pops up (See screenshots)'Windows cannot Install- You cannot install Windows on a USB Flash Drive using Setup'.

There are no USB drives containing Windows, (other than the non-bootable Win10 ISO file copy, stored on an external hard drive), nor has the Windows 10 OS at any time been installed on a USB connected drive.
All past updates up to and including build 14366 installed properly on my root drive (C:).
Below are the processes followed after getting these errors
I ran sfc /scannow, with all systems found OK.
I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, and it ran for almost 2 hours finding nothing (and never finished).
I disconnected ALL USB devices except my wireless mouse/keyboard combination.
I used utilities BCDboot /l en-us, and bootsect.exe SYS to correct any errors in the bootup. All worked as intended, but did not correct the update problems.
Tried update again with no USB devices connected. Error remained.
I went into BIOS and disabled all boot drives except root hard drive. Windows booted as always. Update failed
All 'official' MS WIP forums have been closed by MS. Using third-party Win10 forums get replies like 'You can't install Windows on a USB Drive' (DUH!!) These folks mean well, but apparently do not know how WIP works.
On the feedback hub there are countless reports since 14367 that there are problems installing it. When 14372 was released, and 14367 disappeared from Update list, I had thought that the WIP gods have found the problem and fixed it, but alas, not the case.
Update History
All updates for MS Security Essentials, downloaded and installed as intended, without error.
The last successful Win10 build Update was 14366 on 6/15/16, which is the build running at present.
Conclusion:
Somewhere in an INI or CFG or similar file, WU is being directed to install on a non-existent, USB drive. This change occurred somewhere between 6/15 and 6/18, when 14367 was released. If I can find it, I can edit it and have updates directed to where they belong. I do not have this information, and not knowing where this file is, or its name, it is nearly impossible to locate it.
Surely this hub is monitored by MS geniuses who know where this is and how to fix it, no?
Here is the screenshots, annotated.
Can anyone help with this problem?
